Definitely not a pleasant evening for playing or watching cricket so we will have to postpone tonight's coaching. However we don't want to end the season on a damp note so will do the last session next Friday evening (September 4th) as the forecast looks better than tonight!
Due to wet weather and poor forecast mini coaching this evening has been cancelled however the bar will be open from 6.30pm
Very damp and not the best cricketing conditions as overcast and drizzle so we are going to postpone this mornings coaching. However forecast for tomorrow is much better so we are planning to do the session from 6.30pm until 8pm.
Junior coaching has restarted following the latest ECB guidelines so we are running sessions in groups of 6 made up of 5 juniors and a coach. Full guidelines and how to book onto sessions have been emailed to all juniors but please contact us if you have not received this information.
Sessions for years 3 to 8 are run on Sunday mornings and years 9 & 10 will be on Friday evenings starting from the 3rd July. At the moment we won't be running our mini cricket sessions for reception, Year 1 & Year 2 children which under normal circumstances takes place on Friday evenings. We will review the situation when more ECB guidance is issued but running these age groups in a socially distant manner with no real opportunity for team games is currently not practical.
If you are interested in joining the club then please email us via the website and we will send you more information about coaching for the summer of 2020.
We are pleased to annouce the bar will be open from Saturday 4th July from 2pm till sunset. Members and their friends are invited to bring a picnic, rug and chairs. The bar will be open and we will operate a one way system in the front door and out the back door. Drinks will be served in disposable cups, please bring a bag to take your own rubbish home with you. Toilets will be open, please use hand sanitiser on entry to the clubhouse.
Due to a soggy outfield we are calling off this mornings coaching ... but looking to rearrange one evening this week.
Tony's funeral will take place at Wooburn Green Cemetery on Friday 5th June at 3pm, for immediate family only. UPDATE WNCC members are welcome to stand outside the cemetery at 2.45 (with or without a bat) to show our repects to Tony and his family, please adhere to social distancing.
We are launching the WNCC 50 Club, a replacement for the old “59ers” weekly draw, which has provided us with valuable income for a number of years, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank Karen for her hard work in administering the 59ers. The idea of the new 50 Club is to move from 52 weekly winners to 8 draws a year. This will be simpler to administer, have bigger prizes, and will allow us to make the draws part of our social calendar, holding them on Friday nights, once the season finally gets under way, at the “Drink the Bar Dry” night, the Annual Dinner, etc. As things stand, it looks likely the first draw, pencilled in for June, will be held via Zoom, which won’t be the same as having everyone in the clubhouse, but should be fun nonetheless.
The cost of participation in the 50 Club is £60 a year, i.e. £5 a month, and each of the eight draws will be for a prize of £150, or £200 if the winner is present when the draw is made. If the winner is not there, the additional £50 will roll forward until the next draw
To participate in the 50 Club, please set up a monthly standing order for £5 per membership (and please feel free to take out more than one!) to begin on May 1st. Our bank details are:
Account name WNCC
Sort Code 60-13-35
Account number 64048470
