Match Report

After a promising start, a late order collapse saw Wooburn Narkovians 2nd XI fall 76 runs short of Hillingdon\s mammoth total of 257-2. The third wicket pair of Paul Cooper (59) and Stuart Savage (62) added 111 to take Wooburn to 148-2, but once Cooper had been snapped up behind the wicket, the remaining batsmen were unable to continue the chase. Wynne\s medium pace was too much for the Wooburn\s inexperienced line up, and he finished up with match winning figures of 6-40.

Hillingdon had opted to bat first, posting a huge score of 257-2 in just 40 overs. Both openers, Huntley and Gill, hit centuries and Hodgson a rapid 38 against a Wooburn attack consisting of Tim Waxman, youngster Ben Sturgess and the part-time off spin of Cooper. Wooburn were powerless to prevent the flow of runs, as the Hillingdon batsman despatched the ball to all parts. Woeful catching did not help the visitors cause, with four presentable chances going down.

Hillingdon declared once Gill had reached his hundred, leaving Wooburn 60 overs to bat. The Wooburn reply started well, but Alan Cuthbert\s (18) dismissal, left them relying on Cooper and Savage, and while both played well, neither was quite able make the really big score required.
