FIVE-STAR PERFORMANCE FROM ON-LINE ROGERS



ROB Rogers\ five wicket haul was the key element to Wooburn 2nds\ four wicket win over Fleet on Saturday.



Fleet were asked to bat first and added 90 for the first wicket, with no-one able to stem the run flow. Then Rogers entered the fray, and after Waxman had dismissed Talbot (42), Rogers bowled Gurney (55) in his first over. Although for a while, Elston (40) and Lent (16) carried on serenely, the Wooburn bowlers had their tails up and the wickets soon started to tumble. The last eight wickets fell for just 19 runs and Wooburn were left to chase 181, a far smaller target than previoulsy appeared likely.



The early loss of Dave Rogers did not upset the rhythm of Tab, who slapped a quick 22. At 52-2 in the 10th over, Wooburn needed a steadying influence and this came when Alan Cuthbert (57) and Richard Barker (47) added 58 for the third wicket. When Cuthbert fell, Phil Day added 13 before he, Barker and Waxman all perished. Wooburn could see light at the end of the tunnel at 158-6, but needed to be careful. Rob Rogers (12 not out) confirmed his \man of the match\ performance alongside Adam Chivers (16 not out), to take Wooburn to the win with no further alarms.
