NARKS HELD BUT STILL MOVE THIRD
Wooburn Narkovians dominated their Prudential Chilterns League clash with White Waltham but were unable to turn their superiority into victory. The 14 points they collected for their winning draw was, however, enough to nudge them into third place in the table, 14 points adrift of unbeaten leaders Stoke Green.
Recovering from the loss of an early wicket, Ian Cuthbert and David Smith set about a friendly Waltham attack, adding 82 in under an hour. Wickets then fell regularly on a variable pitch and Wooburn were unable to achieve the huge score that had looked likely. The innings required some lusty blows from Paul Sullivan before they were dismissed for 203.
The effort was soon put into context by the Waltham batting, which was demolished by the pace of Phil Day and Paul Sullivan. From the depths of 18-6, White Waltham could only hang on for a draw, ending on a disappointing 86-8.
