WINNING DRAW

Wooburn Narkovians finished with the points for a winning draw in their top-of-the-table Chilterns League clash with Stoke Green.

The Narkovians\ innings never really caught fire, although David Smith made 32. After a mid-innings wobble prompted by the bowling of Bolsover (5-39), a robust ninth wicket stand of 40 by Peter Harper and Paul Sullivan saw Wooburn to a respectable 178.

Stoke Green\s innings started rapidly, Neil Simpson batting as if determined to finish the game in 20 overs. When he departed for 44, Wooburn steadied themselves and gradually edged back into contention.

A rush of wickets towards the close gave the Narks a chance of snatching victory, but the last wicket pair played out the final eight balls with Green 11 runs short.
