Narkovians return home undefeated
Wooburn Narkovians recently toured the Isle of Wight, and came back undefeated after taking on four of the stronger sides on the island.
The only win came at Newport where the home side was dismissed for just 50, with Doug Nower taking 5-13 and Stuart Savage 4-15.
A win was almost recorded against Shanklin following Savage\s 78 and Ted Sherlock\s 40, but the home side just held out for a draw with eight wickets down.
Against Northwood, a steady start by Geoff Anthony (37) and Derek Milsom (31) was followed by quick runs from David Smith (52*) and Sherlock (27), leaving their opponents 175 to chase. Northwood never looked like keeping up with the run-rate and the draw was settled for at 120-7.
In the final match against Ryde, Anthony (24) and Ted Savage (21) forced Wooburn\s total to 127. The home team held out for the draw after Gary Mayo had taken 4-23.
