In a midweek match against Newport, Isle of Wight, Wooburn scraped in by one wicket in a finely balanced match.
Newport batted first and, with good efforts coming from Kinner (23), Poynter (26) and Hillyard (44), they looked on for a big score. But Phil Day (6-47) and Stuart Savage (2-47) dismissed the late order cheaply and they were all out for 129.
This was far from a formality though, as only Stuart Foster (22) succeeded among the first five batsmen. Stuart Savage (38) set about salvaging the innings and then Ted Savage (20 not) helped steer them home at 130-9 with last man Day.
Poynter (3-47) and Blake (2-35) were the pick of the Newport bowlers.
