Wigley puts Narks on top in derby
Runners-up in the Chiltern League last year, Wooburn Narkovians showed some of their form on Saturday in beating local rivals Marlow Park by six wickets.
Outstanding bowling by Dave Wigley, who received great support from his colleagues, put Wooburn in control. Wigley returned 6-39 from 18 overs as Park mustered only 93. But he would be the first to acknowledge the help he had from fell medium-pacemen Doug Nower and Stuart Savage, who kept the batsmen under pressure. But for fine innings by Tony Wasley and Keith Dormer the total would have been even less.
Wooburn reached their target with six wickets in hand, thanks largely to a fine unbeaten 54 by Dick Keeble, although Dormer made them struggle for the runs.
