142 all out
143 - 6
A six wicket haul for Wooburn Narkovian Richard Barker was not enough to kill off Kidmore End 2nds in a keenly contested match on Saturday.
Put into bat, Wooburn struggled and found themselves 22-3 after 15 tight overs. Richard Barker and Stuart Savage played well in a stand of 40 for the fourth wicket, but three more wickets fell to leave the home side in trouble at 77-6.
Tim Waxman played sensibly in making 26, but Wooburn were indebted to a spirited last wicket partnership of 25 between Phil Clarke and Qadeer to push the final total up to a respectable 142 all out.
In reply, Kidmore End also struggled to get going, particularly against the bowling of Barker, who produced his best bowling of the season. In an inspired spell of fast-medium bowling, he took all six wickets to fall for just 63 runs. But a determined 53 from opener Pigden, and a more unorthodox 28 from Cross at the end, saw the visitors to safety on 143-6.
