Victory at last for the 2nds

The 2nd X1 recorded their first victory in a long time with an excellent performance against Chiswick & Latymer 3rds. In blistering heat Chiswick won the toss and decided to bat. 



Chiswick struggled against Jeff Morris(2-57), bowling 26 overs from one end and Ben Sturgess(1-28), Graham Dare(2-16) and Robbie Rogers(1-45) at the other. Wickets fell at the right times to stop any decent partnerships forming. At 71-6 Chiswick looked to be heading for a score under a hundred, but 14 year old Roberts(31*) and the experienced Fadden(47*) batted sensibly and accelerated towards the end of the innings to post a respectable 154-6. 



Wooburn\s reply started steadily with Rogers and Porter(32) putting on 36 for the first wicket. The Chiswick bowlers insistence on bowling half way down the track to Angus got the predictable treatment! After Rogers was bowled off his pads, Dave Small (22) joined Porter in dispatching the short

ball around the ground.



Porter eventually fell chasing an extremely wide one and after Small, Hall and Morris fell in quick succession Wooburn were wobbling at 96-5. Savage(28) and Michael Watson(16*) took Wooburn closer before Savage fell to leave Dare(28*) and Watson to bat excellently and guide Wooburn home with more than 5 overs to spare.
