The 1st XI played Stoke Green 2\s for the second time looking to improve on the draw in the first meeting earlier in the season.



Stoke Green were soon in trouble, Mark Tennant and Frank White opening up with blistering pace and movement. Gerry\s bowling proved to be practically unplayable by the Stoke Green batsmen, while Frank bowled eight overs for just eight runs in a tight spell.



Phil Cuthbert then took over from Frank and after some customary loose deliveries found the line and length required, with some late in-swinging yorkers finding their target.



DJ Gerry finished with 6-34 after ripping out the top order, while Curtley ended with 4-20, leaving Wooburn requiring just 66 for victory.



Notable fielding from the day were Frank White\s two incredibly sharp catches (!) as well as Martin Tennant\s towering catch to finish the innings.



Wooburn\s reply was scratchy with no-one \shining\ particularly. The home batsmen made hard work of it, reaching the 66 required for the loss of 5 wickets, all to Khan (5-21). Three batsmen scooped the ball to the short leg fielder, while Smally qualified for the Primary Club with distinction, patting a return catch back to the bowler first ball.



Game over in a little over 67 overs and everyone in the bar early for a well deserved beer. The 1sts now sit in third place in TVL Division 4A, just 2 points outside the promotion places.
