Wooburn 1sts crushed Bagshot 2nd XI at Wooburn Park on Saturday, however, the win still left them 6 points short of promotion as Chiswick crept past Stoke Green with a ball to spare.



Wooburn started the match with just nine players as Martin and Gerry Tennant failed to turn up on time for the promotion deciding clash. Obviously a big night for the Disk Jockeys.



Phil Cuthbert took the new ball from the Church end and with some outswinging deliveries had the more talented of the openers trapped lbw. The Bagshot batsmen didn\t look comfortable, and when Gerry arrived to bowl from the Church end, Cuthbert moved to the River end. Change of ends proved decisive. The ball started reverse swinging and Bagshot had no answer. Curtley ended with 6-38 and Gerry with 3-34 as the visitors were all out for 84 in 34 overs.



Wooburn made light work of the task in hand as Dave Rogers dispatched the bowling to all parts of the ground on his way to a cavalier 48. Ian Cuthbert made 31no as Wooburn took the tie by nine wickets before the tea interval.



Later news came in that Stoke Green had failed in a valiant attempt to beat Chiswick. Chiswick passing the 227 required with a ball to spare and with just the one wicket left. Roll on next year when Wooburn look to finally win this league.
