CRICKET WINS THE DAY AS THRILLING MATCH ENDS IN SHARE OF SPOILS
To use an old cliche, cricket was the winner as a cracking game between ICI and Wooburn Narkovians ebbed and flowed from first ball to last.
ICI got off to a flier, but from 81-0 from 16 overs, they subsided to 132-5, although Keith Rance (55) steadied the ship and some hitting at the end from Azim and Verma enabled them to declare with maximum batting points after 50 overs.
Wooburn started disasterously and collapsed to 22-4, but a brilliant stand of 101 between Jason Degelas and Richard Barker put them back in the game. After Degelas was dismissed, Barker continued to go for the runs but when he was out, the task proved too much. Qadeer survived the last 3 balls for the draw, the right result in a game neither side deserved to lose.
