Wooburn stroll to victory

Wooburn Narkovians 1st X1 gained their first victory of a so far frustrating season over Hurst 1st X1 at Wooburn Park on Saturday. 



After winning the toss, skipper Dave Small sent Hurst into bat and Hurst were soon in trouble when Dave Jordan sent in a bullet throw from the boundary to run out Burgess.  Jordan followed that up with a catch and Australian Sam Cuthbert had the impressive Jheeta caught and bowled.  Wrigley was caught dawdling and Dave Small threw the stumps down to run him out.  Tight bowling from Ian Cuthbert, James White and Andy Tennant along with regular wickets kept Hurst in check and the returning Mark Tennant wrapped up the tail to finish with 5 wickets and Hurst looking at least 50 runs short on 150 all out.



Wooburn\s innings got off to a steady start with Dave Rogers punishing Higgs and Paul Cooper using his feet well against the spin of Gent.  When Rogers fell driving to mid off and James White was bowled around his legs, Richie Barker joined Cooper.  The pair patiently knocked off the required runs with no trouble at all with 6 overs remaining, Cooper finishing unbeaten on 63 and Barker 49 not out as Wooburn gained a well deserved 20 points.
