Tennant tears Green apart
Mark Tennant starred for Wooburn Narkovians as they strolled to victory over Stoke Green at Wooburn Park. After winning the toss, Dave Small sent Stoke Green into bat and some superb bowling from Tom Lees, making his 1st team debut ensured Stoke Green were under pressure from the very beginning.
After an early slip catch was put down off Lees, Tennant then struck with an unplayable delivery. Stoke Green soon found themselves 2 dwon with Tennant striking again. Richie Barker then took a fantastic caught and bowled chance before Phil Cuthbert entered the attack and took the crucial wicket of Carl Bourne as Chris Hall held on to a sharp chance at backward point. Stoke Green continued to play their shots, hitting some glorious boundaries but lost wickets at vital times and struggled to get the spin of James White away. At 130-6 with 10 overs to go, Stoke Green were looking for one final push to get near to 200.
Mark Tennant was reintroduced at this point and soon picked up a wicket with the last ball of his 13th over, Tom Lees holding on to a skier at mid on despite colliding with Dave Small.
Tennant then struck again with the first ball of his next over with an inswinger yorker and then repeated the trick next ball to claim his hat-trick! Unbelivably, he bowled an identical ball next up to get an lbw decision in his favour and had taken 4 wickets in 4 balls and finished with fantastic figures of 7-30 as Stoke Green were 130 all out.
Wooburn\s reply got off to a steady start with Dave Rogers and Ian Cuthbert holding firm against some tight Stoke Green bowling before Rogers skied one trying to force the pace. Cuthbert and Dave Pidgeon were quick to punish any loose deliveries and took the score onto 80 before Pidgeon was adjudged lbw for a fine 22. James White then joined Cuthbert and the pair took the score onto 110 before White was bowled by a cracking delivery and Cuthbert was caught behind. Hall then fell cheaply before Richie Barker and Mark Tennant saw Wooburn safely to 131-5 and 20 well deserved points.
