Pidgeon leads the way

A superb fielding and bowling performance at Old Merchant Taylor\s set Wooburn Narkovians up for a second consecutive 20 point victory and into 3rd place in the league. 



At a beautiful ground, with a flat batting track and lightning outfield it looked like plenty of runs would be scored throughout the day.  However, Mark Tennant and James White had other ideas, bowling the first 10 overs between them at a cost of just 1 run and White bowling one of the openers early on. 



OMT\s continued to struggle to get either Tennant or White away and each bowler took one more wicket each as OMT\s looked in trouble at 28-3 off of 24 overs.  However, Parekh, in fine form for OMT\s this season looked good at the crease and was now well supported as boundaries start to come a little more regularly. 



The introduction of both Ian Cuthbert and Andy Tennant into the attack proved crucial as Cuthbert took the wicket of Parekh and Tennant had the big hitting Wright caught in the deep by a juggling Richie Barker.



OMT\s continued to play their shots, with skipper Paul Katz striking the ball well, but regular wickets falling for both Andy Tennant and the returning Mark Tennant meant Wooburn restricted OMT\s to 171-9 off of 52 overs - a score which looked at least 80 runs short.  Superb Wooburn Narkovinas bowling and fielding had made scoring particularly difficult for OMT\s.



With Mark Tennant having to leave early, he opened the batting with Dave Pidgeon and despite hitting a glorious 4 off his first ball, he was soon stumped dancing down the wicket.  Paul Cooper now joined Pidgeon and the pair made batting look very easy, punishing anything loose and never looking in any trouble.  Pidgeon\s 50 came up quickly while Cooper played the all important anchor role.  With the score on 147, Pidgeon was adjudged LBW for an excellent 88.  James White now joined Cooper, but was soon caught behind and Ian Cuthbert and Chris Hall both fell quickly as Wooburn stuttered to 174-5 with Paul Cooper unbeaten on 48 at the close.



Wooburn play away at top of the leaugue Aldershot next week in a bid to move into the promotion positions.
