Runs for Rogers

Wooburn Narkovians travelled to top of the league Aldershot on Saturday and produced another clinical performance to claim 20 points yet again.



Aldershot batted first in sweltering conditions and got off to a solid start before Mark Tennant produced a cracker to bowl the impressive looking Boykchuk.  James White kept things tight at the other end on a dead track with a very fast outfield. 

It was the introdction of Tom Lees that provided the next breakthrough as he had ? caught in the slips by Robbie Rogers off only his fourth ball.  Lees then bowled ?  to leave Aldershot on ?. 



Spin twins Martin Tennant and Robbie Rogers then bowled in tandem with Morley struggling to get both players away.  Rogers had Morley LBW for a well made 30 and then Tennant had no less than 3 catches dropped off his bowling as Munroe decided to go on the attack with overs running out. 



Dave Small and Mark Tennant bowled the last few overs between them, with 3 run outs in that time, as Aldershot finished on 217-7 and Wooburn very confident of chasing the runs down.



Mark Tennant and Dave Rogers got the Wooburn innings off to a flying start with a flurry of boundaries, Tennant hitting 35 off as many balls before having to depart to go to work!  Dave Pidgeon then carried on where he left off last week, striking the ball beautifully.  With temperatures still in the high 20\s, Dave Rogers started to feel the heat and the early pace of the innings petered out slightly.

Pidgeon had to retire when damaging his back and Ian Cuthbert hit a couple of glorious boundaries before being bowled.  James White now joined Dave Rogers and the pair batted effortlessly in taking the score to 215 before White lost his off stump.  Rogers then hit yet another boundary to move on to 95 and guide Wooburn to victory with over 4 overs remaining.



A convincing third consecutive victory for Wooburn sees them remain in 3rd place in the league.  Next Saturday Woobun entertain Farnham Royal at Wooburn Park.
