The Tennant Show

The Tennants stole the show at Wooburn Park on Saturday as Wooburn Narkovians strolled to their fourth consecutive victory with the demolition of Farnham Royal.

Farnham Royal won the toss and batted, and it\s top order was exposed by a devastating spell of swing bowling from Narkovians left-arm opening bowler Mark Tennant. He removed four of the top five leaving Royal realing on 32 for 4 in the 11th over. Perkins however had managed to weather the storm and when joined by Van Ass, a brief partnership ensued lifting the total to 65 before Dave Small removed Van Ass. Jenkins arrived at the wicket and began to work the ball cleverly for singles to keep the scoreboard ticking over. Perkins finally fell for 57, Dave Pidgeon taking a fine catch off James White. Desperately needed cameos from Deans (33) and Boparai (18*) helped Jenkins (44*) lift the final total to a hard-grafted 197 for 8 at the close.

Mark Tennant, having to leave early, again opened the batting for Narkovians on a day when he could do no wrong, and proceeded to batter the Royal attack to all corners. His brother Andy was also punishing anything loose and The Royal bowlers were unnerved and lost the basics of line and length. Narkovians had made 91 before the first breakthrough - Mark Tennant retiring having made 55. It was a desperate day for Royal in the field as bowler after bowler seemed unable to bowl to a plan. Ian Cuthbert joined Andy Tennant and the pair continued to strike the ball to all parts. The introduction of Gillham into the attack showed what concentrating on line and length could do as he proceeded to bowl 4 overs in succession with only one run being scored. It was too little too late and despite a consolation wicket for Choudhary, who had Andy Tennant caught behind for a well made 62, Narkovians reached the target for the loss of just two wickets, James White finishing on 16 and Ian Cuthbert on 42 not out.

Wooburn Narkovians will be looking for their 5th consecutive victory at home to Bagshot this weekend.
