Wooburn Narkovians 1sts played Bagshot for the second time this season on Saturday at Wooburn Park. Wooburn lost the toss again and were put in on a flat track on a warmish day. Mark Tennant decided he wanted a bat rather than a bowl and opened the batting. What a decision. He dispatched the poor Bagshot attack all round the ground. Eventually he was out in the 22nd over just 9 short of his hundred and then walked out of the ground. Surely some disciplinary proceedings will follow. Chris Hall who had ably assisted Tennant at the crease was joined by James White. Another fine innings followed. It’s always good to watch left handers score runs isn’t it? Ian Cuthbert put in a good forty-something as well before Dave Small joined Richie Barker and went to town crashing 3 huge sixes and straight four which ended up nearer the car park than the pitch !! Richie scored just 3 out of the 48 parnership. Wooburn ended at 296-6.



The writing was on the wall when Bagshot were reduced to 13-4 after just 5 overs. Rob Rogers and James White ripping out the top order without compassion. Unfortunately the gates came up exceedingly early from Bagshot. The next 30 overs passed with the score moving very slowly towards the 100 mark. Tom Lees brought the breakthrough with 3 great wickets and suddenly, after spending 2 hours in the heat falling asleep with boredom, Wooburn looked like taking the maximum points. However, Bagshot held onto the draw with “Bad Dobby” Deano Dawson carrying his bat for 54 not out in 49 overs. Disappointing, but the 1sts now sit in second place, 19 points from top spot.
