TURNER CLAIMS FIVE IN PROMOTION CONTEST
A fine spell of bowling from Karl Turner helped Marlow Park 2nd XI to a crucial win over promotion rivals Wooburn Narkovians on Saturday, in a match reduced to 80 overs by heavy rain.
Marlow Park won an important toss and put Wooburn in. Karl Turner made early inroads, and after 23 overs Wooburn were in deep trouble, slipping to 62-8. Their demise was hastened by some good catching, and a sharp run out by Andy Coll. Kevin Czakan took his chances to hit 66, and he was given good support by Rob Rogers, who batted 18 overs for his 13. This enabled Wooburn to make a total that approached respectability. Turner ended with fine figures of 5-27 from 15 overs, but the total of 130 from 41.1 overs never looked good enough on what was a good batting track.
In reply, the Park always looked on course for victory, and they got home by eight wickets with nine overs to spare. Neil Weston was the pick of their batting, playing sensibly to make 61 not out, while Coll continued his good run of form, making 25 not out.
