SAVAGE ATTACK HITS COMMON
Wooburn Narkovians 2nds stay in line for promotion from Thames Valley League Division 5 after a comfortable win over Farnham Common 2nds on Saturday.
Wooburn won the all-important toss and asked Farnham Common to bat. Tim Waxman was soon in the thick of things picking up the first three wickets. Phil Day then rolled back the years and destroyed the middle order, picking up three wickets of his own. Jason Degelas also chipped away, bagging three himself, which just left Rob Rogers to hammer in the final nail, as the Common were routed for 118.
Wooburn started steadily against the lively Smith and consistent Hind. Dave Rogers, resisting the temptation to pull Smith, eased his way to 17 before an attempted hook was gloved to Hind. Paul Cooper dug in as Tab Nawaz entered with a string of ambitious and entertaining shots. Smith soon struck bringing Stuart Savage to the crease. The score moved along slowly with the batsmen rotating the strike, however the post-drinks bowling was dealt with severely by Savage as he clubbed Wooburn to victory.
The win keeps Wooburn in the promotion pack and sets up tomorrow\‘s (Saturday) encounter with Newbury.
