On Sunday the Narks lost to Aston Rowant by 85 runs. Aston Rowant batted first on a dry wicket that was full of runs, and were quickly on the offensive against a weakened Wooburn attack. Only the stalwart John White provided serious opposition as James Pegrum, Paul Cooper and Alan Cuthbert were dispatched around the Oxfordshire plains.



Pegrum did take an early wicket, but this only brought Lambourne to the crease, and both he and John Cooper set about the attack with relish. A stream of boundaries sped across the quick outfield, with Cooper making 101 before he fell to Rob Rogers. David Pidgeon bowled accurately without reward until he bowled Eaton. Lambourne raced to 124, and when he fell to Pidgeon, the declaration came at 268-5.



Wooburn started shakily as they lost three quick wickets, slipping to 20-3. Pidgeon and Cooper slowly rebuilt the innings against some tight bowling, and gradually the runs started to flow. Pidgeon peppered the neighbouring fields, racing to his 1,000 runs for the season before offering the simplest of chances to square leg.



Dilip Gandesha put body and pad in the way, before frustrating third slip Lambourne into a superb reflex catch. Cooper fell for 60, but White held firm, only to see last man Finn hole out with two overs to go.
