SAVAGE POUCHES FIVE CATCHES
Wooburn Narkovians toured the Isle of Wight recently, drawing against Newport and beating Ryde. In the Newport game, a fine bowling performance by Wooburn restricted Newport to 129 all out. Gary Mayo produced an economical opening spell, claiming three wickets, and he was ably supported by Paul Cuthbert, Peter Harper and Karl Turner. Stuart Savage was outstanding in the field, taking five catches, pouching one at slip and four in the deep.
Wooburn narrowly failed to reach the modest total, although they faced 15 overs less than Newport. Savage hit a fine 38, and received good support from Matt Curtis (19), and Ted Savage (12). Wooburn ended four short of a win with their last pair at the crease.
In their game against Ryde, Wooburn put in a fine bowling and fielding performance to dismiss their hosts for just 115. Paul Cuthbert and Pete Harper were the pick of the bowlers, ably supported by Ted Savage and Curtis.
