SULLIVAN SKITTLES OLD LATYMERIANS



A seven wicket haul from Paul Sullivan helped Wooburn Narkovians keep up their good run of form in Division 3 of the Thames Valley League as they beat Old Latymerians by 150 runs.



Wooburn were put in to bat on a green and lively wicket by high-fliers Old Lats, but the in-form opening pair of Angus Porter and Ian Cuthbert, both fresh from recent big scores, made light of the difficult conditions. Porter revelled in some short-pitched deliveries from the opening attack, while Cuthbert savaged anything pitched up. The pair put on 150 for the first wicket before Cuthbert was out, caught at long on, for 94. The later batsmen perished quickly in the pursuit for rapid runs, but Porter went on to complete his second century in successive league games to guide his side to 235-5.



Wooburn\s bowlers made much better use of the helpful conditions, with Sullivan soon removing the Old Lats top three. Never in the hunt for a win, the best the home side could hope for was a draw, but Phil Cuthbert picked up three middle order wickets, and Sullivan mopped up the tail in a sustained spell of fiery bowling to finish with 7-32.



After a poor start to the season, the Narks have run into form at the right time, and look well placed for a top six finish.
