Match Report
Wooburn were beaten by a good all-round Winchmore Hill side in the Chiltern League. Winchmore batted first and played solidly, with a series of good stands. Opener P.Massey played the anchor role, batting 43 overs for 43 runs before he was finally run out with the score on 180. Other contributions came from C.Massey (41), Thompson (34), Haynes (31) and M.Bradshaw (29), while Waxman (2-35) was the pick of the Wooburn bowlers.
The Wooburn openers, Paul Cooper (28) and Ian Cuthbert (32) batted well to put on 64 for the first wicket. The fall of the first wicket heralded a minor collapse as the side slipped to 71-4. A stand of 26 between David Smith (37) and Jeff Morris pushed the score up to 97. Smith was then joined by Karl Turner, but the departure of Turner with the score on 124, brought on another collapse with saw the last four wickets fall for 15 runs.
