CUTHBERT AND COOPER START OFF IN STYLE
Wooburn Narkovians fell 22 runs short as they drew their match with Chalfont St. Giles on Saturday.
Chalfont were put into bat and a first wicket partnership between Taylor (64) and Seabrook (35) realised 109 runs. The partnership was broken when Taylor was dismissed, and Seabrook followed him to the pavilion seven runs later. It seemed as though Wooburn might be making the breakthrough, but a partnership of 47 between Gray (27) and Roberts (28 not out) took the score to 171 and the innings closed on 183-4. Jeff Morris (3-46) and Phil Cuthbert (1-30) were Wooburn\s wicket takers.
Wooburn\s reply got off to an excellent start with a first wicket stand of 114. This was ended with the dismissal of Ian Cuthbert for 69. A second wicket fell three runs later and David Smith (28 not out) joined Paul Cooper. They added 25 before Cooper was run out on 52. The Wooburn innings faltered to 162-5 at the close.
