Mike Bradley produced a good all-round performance to bring Taplow 2nd XI victory over Wooburn Narkovians in the Chiltern League on Saturday.
Taplow were put into bat, and Bradley (52) got them off to a quick start. When he was out, Chris Goodrham (54) and Paul Newman (21) carried on the good work. However, once Gary Mayo (5-26) came into the attack, the late order was not able to capitalise on the solid base, with the last five batsmen being dismissed for three runs.
Having dismissed their opponents for 174 in 44 overs, Wooburn had 46 overs to chase the target on a good batting wicket at Wooburn. Wooburn lost early wickets to Tony Cane (4-40), but good knocks from Phil Lawless (77) and Mayo (21) turned the game round. At 120-2 Wooburn were in a strong position, but when Lawless was out and Mayo needlessly run out, they also collapsed. Bradley (4-50) and Cane were re-introduced into the attack, and eight wickets fell for just 23 runs to give Taplow victory.
