Hurst were in fine form as they batted competently to a first innings total of 218-3. Openers Robson (28) and Parr (27) put on 40 for the first wicket, and partnerships of 30, 54 and 94 followed as Nicholls (86*), Boniface (25) and McWilliam (39*) piled on the runs to set a difficult target for Wooburn.
The reply started well with Phil Lawless (94) and Dave Rogers putting on 29 for the first wicket. The total moved on steadily with useful contributions from Darren Thornton (26) and Michael Crookes (19). At 144-3, Wooburn looked on course and they were still in with a shout at 171 with only five wickets down. But a late collapse saw Hurst in control, and it was left to Robin Evans and last man Rob Barber to secure the draw with Hurst poised for victory.
