Wooburn entertained Aston Rowant and made a good total after losing Morriss for nought. Some sharp singles early on kept the scoreboard ticking over, and useful contributions came from the flambouyant Wake (23) and Foster (25), but the innings was dominated by an unusually rampant Mayo. He hit a superb 114, his maiden century, to enable Wooburn to declare on 225-5.
In reply, Aston Rowant never really got out of first gear, although Condon (31) proved difficult to dislodge. Pidgeon produced a fine spell to take 6-32 from 15 overs, and Aston Rowant were left on 104-8, with their tail defiantly hanging on for a draw.
