The annual match against an Old Narkovians XI for the Harry Pidgeon Trophy ended in a 24-run victory for Wooburn. A highly successful day featured a barbeque and raffle, and saw a brisk trade behind the bar throughout.
On the field, good innings from James White (49), Martin Tennant (47) and Richie Barker (41) saw Wooburn to 189-5 declared. For the Old Narks, Phil Cuthbert produced a fine spell at the start, and there were wickets for Gary Mayo, Peter Harper, Robin Evans and Ted Savage.
In reply, the Old Narks were well in the hunt at 112-2 thanks to Angus Porter (20), Stuart Foster and Gary Mayo (24). However, the dismissal of Dave Pidgeon for 52 proved the turning point. Cuthbert (17) and Stuart Evans (13) continued the chase, before Paul Cooper cleaned up the tail with 5-37.
