The Sunday XI cruised to a comfortable, if unsatisfying, nine-wicket victory over nine-man Flackwell Heath.



Flackwell’s innings got off to a flying start as Ward unleashed a flurry of big shots and, with Hardy also scoring freely, the home side raced to 90 off just 17 overs.



But once James White had bowled Ward for 60 and Hardy had holed out off Ben Sturgess for 59, Flackwell struggled to make much headway. White did the majority of the damage for Wooburn with a spell of 4-23 from 10 overs.



A late flourish by captain Tinsley, who made 24 before being bowled by Russell Dale, gave some impetus to the end of the Flackwell innings, allowing them to set the visitors a target of 178 for victory.



It soon became clear that the mainstay of Flackwell’s batting was also the mainstay of its bowling as Hardy and Ward contributed some useful overs. But once Dave Rogers and James White had safely negotiated the opening spells, they began to score quickly against the inexperienced change bowlers, obviously aided by the home side’s lack of numbers.



With 78 on the board, White skied a pull shot and was caught for 36, but the weak Flackwell attack got no respite as Richard Barker joined Rogers and the pair rapidly finished the job, reaching the target in the 31st over. Rogers finished on 80 and Barker on 46.
