Match Report
Hopes were high going into this game, as a stronger team took the field against a side we had slaughtered earlier in the season. However, once again, we were surprised by the much improved strength of the opposition. After being put in, we batted well to reach 239-8, against some testing bowling. Dave Small surpassed his previous highest score, going on to reach 91, and there were solid contributions from Alan Cuthbert (36), Robster Rogers (28), Richard Harman (25 - with 2 sixes, one of them huge!) and Derek Milsom (26).
NPL Teddington were unrecognisable from the side we despatched so easily in June. Led by the Joneses, father and son, they reached their target with eight balls to spare. There was a time, at 122-5, when a home win looked favourite, but the younger Jones rode his luck and played his shots with abandon to reach 70. We had our chances, two difficult catches and an easy run out, but they went begging.
Not too disasterous thanks to Chiswick also only managing a draw. Hopefully, NPL Teddington will be just as strong when they face Chiswick in two weeks time.
