The 1st XI entertained a Farnham Royal 2’s side which must have suffered from poor availabilities on Saturday at Wooburn Park. Farnham Royal batted first and, in almost a carbon copy of the Stoke Green match two weeks earlier, DJ Gerry aka Mark Tennant, tore into the Farnham upper order. With a little cloud cover and a brisk summer breeze, the Wooburn paceman swung the ball both ways and caused all kinds of problems.

Frank White again supplied some great support from the other end – it could be said he was unplayable since the Farnham batsmen literally could not get bat on ball. Gerry (7-23) made short work of the task in hand and after just 27 overs, Farnham were dimissed for a meagre 58 with ‘keeper Dave Rogers jugworthy with 5 dismissals (3 catches, 1 stumping & 1 run out).

Since this was a 12:30 start, tea was not even in sight at this stage, some players were just getting over luncheon. It was decided to take to the field immediately for Wooburn’s innings.

Wooburn reached the target in just 15.4 overs with Dave Rogers (18), Frank White (11) and skipper Pidge (21no) the main contributors. Some straight bowling from Deans (2-12) retrieved the one consolation point for Farnham. Tea at just 4pm. Sandwiches and cake with a pint of Best, leaving Smally free to make his way to his BBQ.

With just two games left, both against relegation strugglers, promotion is still in sight for the 1sts. They are fourth in TVL Division 4A, just 6 points behind 2nd place.
