The 2nd XI maintained their unbeaten start to the season, moving up to 4th in the table, after Henley failed to score the 7 they needed from the final over.



In a match reduced to 82 overs by rain, Wooburn opted to bat first after winning the toss. A solid start saw Kevin Dolan and Derek Milsom add 77 for the first wicket before Kevin sacrificed himself to a run out. James White, returning from injury, helped Derek add a further 59, before being bowled for 17. Derek, in fine form throughout, eventually fell for a well made 92, including 11 boundaries, on a day more suited to bowling. Chris Hall had time to add an unbeaten 23 before the declaration came at 177-4.



A fiery opening spell from Ollie Atkins quickly removed Henley’s openers, leaving them 16-2. Ranger and Lawson looked to recover the position, but were pegged back by Ben Barker, who picked up three wickets in an impressive spell of seam bowling from the Church End. Fitzpaine started cautiously, and lost Taylor to some good work behind the stumps by Stuart Savage. At 93-6, the Narks were on top.



Henley looked to be playing for the draw when blocking three overs from Pete Harper, but Fitzpaine suddenly came to life, dragging his partner Johnson with him. Needing just six and a half an over from the last 10, Henley appeared to have the match under control. The equation came down to 14 off 2, then 7 from the final over to be delivered by Frank. To Wooburn’s relief, Fitzpaine hit the first ball straight to Ollie at long on, who took a good catch in the murky light. Johnson was then bowled, and Henley needed a six off the final ball to win. They could only manage a single and a hard fought match, played in an excellent spirit, finished in a draw.
