The Wooburn sunday team enjoyed another last over victory on a blustery day at Theale.
Theale won the toss and batted kindly loaning two fielders to Wooburn for the first hour as our team arrived. Bowling proved tricky in the strong winds and with the fast outfield Theale raced to 80 /1 from only 14 overs. Andrew & Ben Barker both bowled well and picked up wickets as did Rhys Wheeler, John White, Karl Croxon & Andy Higgins who was making a welcome return. With some strong hitting by the tail Theale reached 215, top scorer Ash with a stylish 53.
After a good tea John White & Ben Barker batted aggresively and took Wooburn to 100 / 0 in only the 18th over, but then both openers fell quickly followed by Rhys & Richie. Kevin Dolan and Andy Higgins continued the chase but when Andy fell Wooburn still needed 60 from the last ten overs. Paul Cooper then came in and scored freely from the off and even when Kevin retired from sickness he managed the tail seeing Wooburn home with 1 ball remaining.
