On Sunday Farnham Royal hosted Wooburn Narkovians in a match that showed how the August holidays have taken their toll on the availability of players. The Wooburn batting line-up was riddled with more holes than Gruyere cheese, and this was shown to be the case by the Farnham bowling.



Only three players achieved double figures against the bolwing of Ray Spencer (3-11) and Andy Woodland (5-9). However, three sixes from Stuart Savage to the longest part of the ground added some relief. The final total of 105 was never going to be enough.



Wooburn\s hopes were raised when the gained a couple of early wickets, but Wesson (43) batted almost chancelessly for the majority of the innings before being deceived by the lack of pace and bounce provided by Rob Barber, whose introduction into the attack was far too tardy to be of significance.



Farnham enjoyed a relatively comfortable victory for the loss of four wickets, although a few tantalising lbw appeals going the bowler\s way might have added a second dimension to the match. A very tight all-round performance by Farnham induced a wobble that the Narks batting was never going to stabilise and, as a result, saw Wooburn back in the pavilion to watch the US PGA and learn how to hit a ball properly.
