TARGET WAS NOT TEMPTING ENOUGH
Despite setting a tempting target of 205 off 46 overs, Wooburn Narkovians were unable to avoid a tame draw in their Chilterns League match with Amersham Hill on Saturday.
The Narkovians batted first at Wooburn Park and scored freely, with Ian Cuthbert (26), Lawless (31) and Smith (21) falling after being well set. Jeff Morris (59*) batted with freedom and Paul Cuthbert smashed three consecutive fours to bring up the 200 as he played a supporting role.
A succession of early wickets knocked the visitors out of their stride as Karl Turner bowled in a lively fashion to take 4-39. The Amersham batting became less enthusiastic as the innings wore on, despite attempts by Wooburn to cajole the batsmen into errors by employing occasional bowlers. A dull draw was the result.
