POOR START CONTINUES
Wooburn Narkovians\ poor start to the Chilterns League season continued when skilful batting from opponents Chalfont St. Giles saw their tempting total of 176 overhauled for the loss of just four wickets.
Batting first, Wooburn were indebted to fine knocks from Smith (67) and Porter (43). Support was not forthcoming from the lower order as the innings ground to a halt after 46 overs, thanks to some fine, penetrative bowling from Borns (3-30) and Turton (4-26).
In reply, Chalfont batted steadily, keeping an eye on the scoreboard to make sure they kept up with the asking rate. Webber and Payne applied the acceleration right on cue to win the match in the final over.
