WEAKENED WOOBURN IMPRESS WITH A DOUBLE SUCCESS
A depleted Wooburn Narkovians 1st XI was forced to field a number of youngsters when they visited Kimble in the Chilterns League on Saturday, but still managed to come away with an impressive 77 run victory.
Amid the numerous stoppages for rain, the local side managed to make 184-8 in 45 overs, with Ian Cuthbert delivering a series of brutal blows to reach 72. Most of the remaining batsmen failed to trouble the scorers much, but Paul Cuthbert (41 not out), Karl Turner and Phil Day helped the score on to a satisfactory total.
In reply, Kimble were unable to cope with tight bowling by Day (2-27) and Sullivan (4-18), who were skilfully supported by paceman Waxman, Phil Cuthbert and Jeff Morris. Kimble were veritably skittled out for 107 after resistance had crumbled following the removal of Miller (42).
