DENHAM COME UNSTUCK AGAINST TIM WAXMAN
On Saturday the 1st XI easily beat a depleted Denham side. The Narks batted first and the blustery squalls were matched by a commotion in the dressing room, as run-machine Ian Cuthbert and Phil Lawless fell early on.
Of the middle order, only David Smith (45) made double figures, and is was left to Karl Turner (44), Stuart Savage (47) and Paul Sullivan (26 not out) to take Wooburn to the 200. Webber took 4-33 from his 12 overs, but the Narks\ batsmen scored quickly enough to allow an early declaration.
Wooburn applied themselves well in the field and took some early wickets, despite some fairly mediocre bowling. Barton (29) and Llewellyn (26) were the top scorers, but Tim Waxman caused a late collapse, bowling cleverly with the breeze behind him to take 3-9 in seven overs. Peter Harper, Jeff Morris and Sullivan all took wickets as Wooburn took maximum points.
