Wooburn batted first and Cooper departed in the first over, undone by a vicious searing delivery, to herald the arrival of Smith. The ever improving Smith proceeded to despatch the bowling onto the adjoining golf course, but in a brainless manoeuvre, sacrificed his wicket to the grateful cover fieldsman. Milsom strode on defiantly.



Savage became very heavy-handed with the bowling, until bowled by a donkey drop. curtis promised, but never fulfilled the expectations of the growing audience. Turner quickly fell to the usual straight delivery, bringing the confident, but injury-prone, Cuthbert to the wicket.



After receiving a number of painful blows to his little finger, young Cuthbert opened his broadening shoulders and deposited the ball close to the pin on the 14th hole. The jet-set Sullivan was struck out by the curve ball pitching of White, as Wooburn totalled 215-9.



Chalfont St. Peter never came to terms with the Wooburn attack, as the lively Sullivan and reliable White pinned the openers down. Harper\s deceptive flight untied the middle order after Turner\s raw pace had supplied the breakthrough.



Morris claimed wickets off his reduced run up, extracting menacing life to dumbfound the batsmen. Sullivan returned, Milsom snapping up a lightening sharp chance in the slips. However, the tiring Morris could not account for the last wicket as Chalfont St. Peter hung on for the draw.
