Match Report

Wooburn Narkovians 2nds, fielding probably their strongest batting side of the season, were amazed to find themselves at 51 for 7 wickets against an averages Princes Risborough bowling attack.

The innings started badly when Stuart Foster fell to a remarkable catch by wicket-keeper Hasted off the bowling of Eddie Honore. Honore bowled tightly, conceding just 11 runs from his 12 overs, and the wooburn innings had become a sorry procession of low-scoring batsmen returning to a subdued pavilion.

Fortunately, Wooburn\s strength came through as Paul Cooper (the returning globetrotter) and James White reduced the Risborough attack to tears, adding an unbeaten eighth wicket stand of 120. Cooper (65 not out) and White (55 not out) plundered the bowling and shamed the earlier batsmen. Wooburn ended on 171-7 from their full 48 overs.

Risborough started their innings in a hurry, and after only seven overs had raced to 43 for 3 wkts. However, after the dismissal of Honore (42) to a tremendous catch by White in the deep, Risborough showed little inclination to score runs against the experienced Wooburn bowling (Pidgeon 4-20), and put the shutters up with two wickets and 21 overs remaining.

The placid Wooburn pitch and a ball which had become soggy from its entry in the river, didn\t help Wooburn\s cause, and Risborough\s last pair held out for an undeserved draw. Hasted finished on 30 not out.
